Salary: £27,000 / year

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following based on site requirements. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), IRB Protocols, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Complete all process and procedure training as required. 
  • Create a welcoming environment for donors to increase donor retention and participate in donor recruitment, as needed.  
  • Consent donors and perform pre-donation donor screening qualification processes according to SOPs. 
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to personnel, donors, and site records utilized during all duties. 
  • Preparing donors for donation procedures in a timely manner.
  • Review donor record files for accuracy and completeness and ensure documentation is performed according to SOPs. 
  • Collect blood products or specimens through configuration of the collection device, performing phlebotomy, monitoring, and disconnecting the donor upon completion according to SOP. 
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and periodic calibration and qualification activities. 
  • Assist in performing donor center facility and equipment cleaning and maintenance daily, weekly, monthly, and/or annual. 
  • Process, label and review units and samples in preparation for shipping according to specifications, as necessary. 
  • Perform product and sample shipment activities, as necessary. 
  • Monitor collection supply levels and enter purchase requests, as necessary. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Education and/or Experience 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year Phlebotomy experience OR Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant education program, required.

  • None required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Preferred

  • Certified in Phlebotomy 

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office   
  • Ability to work in a team laboratory environment with knowledge or familiarity with scientific terminology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, management, and suppliers.
  • Good command of English language (in writing and verbal).
  • Ability to work under pressure.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

 

General business hours for the position will be Monday - Friday. Occasionally evening hours and weekends may be required. While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. The employee has potential for exposure to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazards, flammable liquids. The employee is occasionally required to use equipment with moving mechanical parts, with risk of electrical shock and vibration. This role is fully office-based position.
