Job Summary

The Marketing Manager will be one of a team of marketing experts working on the National Geographic brand across EMEA markets and in the UK.

The role will be focused on leading the development of brand and content marketing strategy guidance for local markets and best in class campaigns in the UK to drive awareness, affinity, and tune-in to our key monetised platforms.

You will be responsible for delivering insights-driven paid and owned media campaigns across the media mix, working in partnership with key stakeholders internally and externally including research, programming, creative, social, communications, and owned media teams, as well as our media agency and media partners.

You will also lead relationships with your marketing counterparts across EMEA, ensuring that these teams are set up for success.

The role will require strong leadership, strategic and creative capabilities, and excellent communication and relationship building skills to achieve our core business objectives.

This is an office-based role. 4 days working in the Hammersmith, London office with 1 day working from home.

The Opportunity & Responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing & Campaign Management

  • Support the VP and Senior Marketing Manager in developing the annual marketing strategy, including defining content priorities based on their ability to broaden audience reach and build the National Geographic brand across the region.
  • Project manage allocated top priority title campaigns from briefing through to implementation, optimisation and post-campaign analysis.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the attitudes and behaviours of key audiences, where to connect with them, and with what content.
  • Curate engaging creative and media briefs and run regular briefing sessions with creative teams and our media agency.
  • Collaborate with our media agency to create audience-first and attention-grabbing paid media campaigns across the media mix, including TV & VOD, outdoor, key digital and social platform partners, and media partnerships. This includes developing media guidelines for EMEA markets, as well as planning and fulfilling UK campaigns.
  • On occasion, you may also be required to oversee the activation of pan-regional media buys.
  • Keep up to date on the media, TV and SVOD landscape and actively share this insight with the broader team.

Analysis & Budget Management

  • Work with Research to decipher performance and audience insights and trends, ensuring that key learnings are reflected in media briefs and plans and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide full post-campaign analyses and identify go-forward recommendations for future campaigns.
  • Work with our media agency to run test campaigns including AB creative testing.
  • Understand and evaluate the competitive landscape, applying insights to gain competitive advantage.
  • Evaluate and optimise processes and key deliverables where required.
  • Support with financial planning and in-campaign budget management, ensuring all payments to external vendors are managed efficiently.

Cross Line of Business & Stakeholder Management

  • Build owned media plans in conjunction with media planning teams to maximise brand exposure across National Geographic and broader Disney touchpoints including on-air promo campaigns on our linear channels, SVOD merchandising, social, digital sites, and the National Geographic magazines.
  • Collaborate with Communications on priority campaigns, supply relevant marketing and positioning documents to ensure alignment and support with the development of title campaigns, events and stunts.
  • Collaborate with the brand & franchise team to support the definition and alignment of strategic marketing plans and broader National Geographic brand initiatives such as Earth Day.

External Agency Management

  • Manage the relationship with our media agency to develop β€˜best in class’ campaigns.
  • Lead on key projects from briefing through to deployment, including managing stakeholder feedback and approvals.

Partner Marketing

  • Develop partner engagement strategies, including unique events, competitions, branded premiums, and BAU comms.

Leadership

  • Task manage and support with the development of the Marketing Supervisor and Marketing Intern.

The Experience We Require From You:

  • Proven experience at a Marketing Manager level or ready to promote to this level
  • Strategic marketing experience including media planning across the media mix, and briefing, deploying, optimising and reporting on paid media campaigns
  • Content marketing experience (TV or film content for linear, streaming, theatrical)
  • Experience managing media agencies and creative & production teams
  • Budget management
  • Stakeholder management and relationship building
  • A team player – positive and proactive
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail
  • A passion for marketing, media and entertainment
