IMG has a clear strategic agenda and growth plan across the business - and the Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy will sit right at the centre of it: working closely with IMG's Senior Leadership Team, briefing IMG's President, and driving that agenda forward – challenging where it needs to evolve, cutting through what's holding it back, and making sure the right things get attention at the right time.
The right person gets energy from making a business work better - solving the problems in front of them today, and getting ahead of the ones coming next.
- The team: Strategy & Growth - covers IMG's firm-level strategy and separately runs a consulting practice advising sports rights holders and investors.
- The remit: Shaping IMG's direction and priorities, and challenging the thinking behind them for the SLT.
- Who you'll work with: IMG's SLT and business unit heads, in collaboration with the SVP and Senior Director of Strategy & Growth; also Operations and Finance.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Prepare briefing materials for IMG's President ahead of key internal and external engagements.
- Work with each SLT member on their strategic initiatives - ask the hard questions when things don't add up, and follow through to make things happen.
- Lead SLT updates and strategy reviews - keep the quality high and the content useful, not just informative.
- Pick up ad hoc strategic questions as they come up, from market sizing to investment cases to organisational questions.
- Support the yearly strategy planning process - bring structure to the cycle, shape priorities with SLT input, and test the direction.
- Drive IMG's strategic plan forward - track performance by business unit, flag problems early, and recommend fixes.
- Work with Finance on regular updates against the plan - what's tracking, what's at risk, and where the gaps are.
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience: 5–8 years in strategy consulting (MBB or similar) or a corporate strategy function, ideally media, entertainment, or sports.
- Self-directed: Runs several initiatives at once, anticipates risks, keeps momentum without constant supervision.
- Executive credibility: Experience building SLT-level materials and working directly with senior leadership.
- Financial acumen: Can build a growth model, pull apart a P&L, and test a business case.
Skills and Abilities
- Structured thinker: Takes a messy problem, works out what matters, and explains it simply - turns a vague question into something structured without needing all the answers handed over.
- Reading the room: Knows when to push, when to listen, and how to be useful without overstepping senior leaders who have strong views.
- Clarity in communication: Strong writer - explains complex things in plain language a busy executive will actually read.
- Hands-on: Builds analysis yourself, or briefs others to do it.
- Pragmatic: Would rather get something useful done quickly than spend three weeks making it perfect.
Nice to have: familiarity with how professional services firms work commercially and/or experience in a multi-business-unit or holding company structure.
Don't meet every single requirement? If you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't line up with every point above, we'd still encourage you to apply.
