The role


The Lead Engineer is a brand-new role in our Fintech’s Engineering team. We ‘re looking for an experienced software engineer who can be individually productive in development, infrastructure configuration and deployment, or manage and mentor a team of engineers, leading by example. You will be pioneering new projects while navigating the inherent ambiguity and adjustments that come with early-stage development. The Lead Engineer will be comfortable across the software development spectrum, from coding and tooling to infrastructure, and adept at various development processes, plus adapt to new technologies and environment.


On top of your technical expertise, you'll be a champion for your team, empowering each member and fostering a collaborative environment. Looking to seek improvements in productivity and quality is essential for constant innovation, and you will act as the glue that brings consistency and alignment across different engineering disciplines and departments.


 


About you


The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.



  • 5+ years of experience with React.js and/or Next.js

  • 5+ years of experience with Node.js (Express.js, Fastify, etc)

  • 3+ years of experience with Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django, etc)

  • Prior experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

  • Actively participates in architecture and system design discussions, with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability

  • Familiar with testing methodologies and working with QA people.

  • Knows and has experience with writing clear documentation

  • Action-oriented and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the product forward

  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes

  • Git and Jira experience is essential

  • Understands agile methodologies and is used to working in an agile environment


Nice to have: 



  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong presence in the dev community

  • Has led a team of engineers including one or more senior engineers

  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and related paradigms

  • Experience with some cloud platform (preferably GCP)

  • Experience with LLMs and have tinkered with ChatGPT, Bard, llama2, etc
